Chris Allen is a researcher lecturer and consultant specialising in transnational organised crime and how it is policed.
He is currently a PhD Scholar at the Liverpool Centre of Advanced Policing Studies, Liverpool John Moores University, where he is examining the application of business analysis techniques to organised crime groups, particularly those involved in drugs.
In parallel with this he worked with several areas of law enforcement, including City of London Police, the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit and the National Police Chiefs' Council on Project U BATTLE- the practical application of these techniques for a policing purpose.
Chris, has spoken about U BATTLE at more than 10 conferences over the last 18 months, both in the UK and globally.
The U BATTLE toolkit is now an independent product operated by Criminis Training and Consultancy Services- of which he is Director. He has recently completed a period of consultancy for the Intellectual Property Office Intelligence Hub, looking at how best to integrate U BATTLE into their investigation processes.
Chris is a member of the NPCC Intelligence Practice Research Consortium, the European Political Research Consortium Standing Group on Organised Crime and the Society of Evidence Based Policing. He is also a member of the International Association for the Study of Criminology
He holds an MA Distinction in Terrorism and International Crime from Coventry University and a Level 7 qualification in Professional Consulting from the Charted Management Institute and is co Author of the July 2020 report An evaluation of the UK’s Proceeds of Crime Centre by the Liverpool Centre of Advanced Policing Studies.
From January 2020, he will be running the new in MA Transnational Organised Crime at the University of Buckingham. This is a course that he specifically designed to fit in with the demands of law enforcement professionals.
Prior to embarking on his PhD, he worked for the City of London Police as an analyst and researcher in the Economic Crime Directorate policing think-tank, The Police Foundation, and as a journalist for Police Professional.
